Boat registrations and titles are issued by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
Pennsylvania boat registrations are valid for up to two years and allows boat operations nationwide and in Canada.
Boats are required to be registered in the state where they are primarily used. A valid registration card must be carried on the boat and expires on the date indicated on the decal.
Boat registrations are renewed on a 2-year cycle and expire on March 31 of the 2nd year. The Commission will send a renewal card to the registered owner of the boat before expiration.

Instead of boat registration, an unpowered boat may display a launch permit to use a PFBC or DCNR State Park or State Forest access. Upon purchase of a one-year or two-year launch permit, a 90-day temporary permit is issued to allow the boat to be operated until decals arrive by mail.
