Original Certificate of Title

If you don't have the title because it is financed, please contact us for the appropriate form.

Fill the form out and return it to us. We will send it to the lien holder and contact you when we receive the title.

Valid Identification

*Must have current address listed*

Acceptable proof of ID:

Valid PA DL
Valid PA Photo ID Card
Valid PA Photo Exempt ID Card
Valid US Armed Forces Common Access Card

Current Proof Of Insurance

This must be a hard copy of the insurance card, binder, or declaration page. Our office has to send a copy of this with the title transfer paperwork, we will accept a faxed copy from your insurance carrier.

Note: If you are purchasing a motorcycle or motor home, you must have proof of insurance listing the specific vehicle to have tags issued.

VIN/ GVWR Verification

All vehicles that come from out-of-state must be VIN verified. If you are unable to bring the vehicle to our office, you may:

1. Make a pencil tracing of the VIN plate (tracing must be completely legible)

2. Click to here to download form MV41 and have a licensed PA inspection mechanic or state trooper verify the VIN.

NOTE: If the Vehicle is a truck or trailer, then the gross weight must also be verified by a inspection mechanic using form MV-41

Plates

Pennsylvania motorists must obtain license plates from an approved PennDOT center for all motor vehicles.

Classic Plates:

Vehicle must be over 15 years old (based on the year of manufacture)
Vehicle must be in the condition that is was originally through maintenance

Antique Plates:

Vehicle must be over 25 years old (based on the year of manufacture)

and/or restoration.

Vintage Plates:

A vintage registration plate is a “period-issued” registration plate from 1906 to 1976 to be displayed on an antique or classic vehicle with the same corresponding model year. Vintage registration plates are not manufactured or issued by PennDOT. Applicants are required to provide the vintage registration plate they wish to display on their antique or classic vehicle.
